SP Energy Networks (SPEN) is working to achieve transmission network targets set by the Scottish and UK Government as part of our journey to Net Zero. SPEN will invest over £5bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030.
A Project Engineer assists with project management (capital investment projects) within the licence areas, safely and to a high-quality standard, while delivering outputs to programme and maximising capital efficiency against allowance, with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory and License obligations.
What you’ll be doing
* Support Project Manager to deliver key project outputs and incentive mechanisms within project(s) to ensure they are in line with business targets.
* Contribute to the out-performance of the price control settlements by identifying, promoting and implementing innovation, business efficiencies and value engineering.
* Assist with delivering accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on all projects to ensure compliance with full contractual and financial governance within project.
* Promote and implement external/internal stakeholder engagement and community liaison for project(s), including compliance with SPEN Land Code of Conduct.
* Compliance with SPEN Integrated Management System, required for the professional and efficient delivery of the investment programme, including externally accredited systems for Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality management.
* Assist with delivering a quality product to SPEN Operations Businesses. Compliance with quality procedures and inspection, witnessing, handover & test plans to minimise unnecessary Opex in the future.
* Deliver data and final records for all assets into the corporate systems in line with required policy and associated timescales.
* Drive continual improvement behaviour by identifying lessons learned and sharing these with the wider business. Project and contract reviews carried out timeously, to inform improvements for the remainder of RIIO T2, plus T3 moving forwards.
What you’ll bring
* Experience in infrastructure projects (Electricity, Gas, Water, Telecoms, Nuclear, Renewables).
* Degree in a relevant Engineering Discipline or relatable experience.
* Full and current UK driving licence.
* Project management qualification or relevant experience in project management practices.
* Awareness of project management methodology, risk management and control.
* Demonstratable experience of financial control and/or forecasting.
