H&J Martin Construction is one of Ireland’s longest standing and most successful Building Contractors. We have successfully contributed to the Built Heritage of Ireland, with the delivery of Iconic buildings such as the City Hall in Belfast, the Slieve Donard Hotel in County Down and Arnotts Department store in Dublin. Our contribution to Iconic sites has continued in recent times with the ongoing Development of the famous Kings Hall site in Belfast.
Role Overview
As a Site Engineer you will be required to work effectively as part of the H&J Martin Construction team and to work collaboratively with all other stakeholders, including clients, statutory authorities and clients.
What you'll do
The following reflect the main tasks associated with your position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive:
* Alwas demonstrate a proactive and enthusiastic approach to your work and business interests.
* Compliance with all Health & Safety Regulations ensuring that all issues of Health & Safety are monitored regularly, and accurate records maintained.
* Ability to interpret construction information in the format of drawings and specifications and then lead in the implementation of Engineering Controls and setting out for works from commencement to completion.
* Contribute to the preparation & organisation of the programme for work including resource allocation,
* Lead in the implementation of and monitor Quality Assurance and ensure compliance by the site team and subcontractors.
* Preparation and approval of method statements and risk assessments.
* Maintenance of all business engineering assets, including dumpy and laser levels, and Total stations.
* To undertake any other reasonable duties as required
What you'll bring
Essential Criteria:
* Minimum Foundation level degree in Construction management related or Civil Engineering degree, achieving a full Third level degree (in same discipline) within 2-year period.
* Proficient in the use of Total Stations and all relevant surveying equipment
* Willingness to assume additional responsibilities in keeping with project requirements
* Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
* Problem solving and ability to meet deadlines
* Ability to successfully implement, maintain and ensure compliance of Health & Safety legislation
* Fully understanding & implementation of Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures
* Commercially aware of economies and efficiencies
* Competent in Information Technology and in particular, relevant construction related software including AutoCAD
* Full valid driving licence
* Flexible approach to working hours and travel and prepared to travel to site locations within the UK and Ireland
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience of supervising/mentoring engineering teams
* CSR/CSCS Qualification or equivalent
* Qualified First Aider
* Qualified or working towards Temporary Works Coordinator qualification
* Qualified or working towards Appointed Person qualification
