An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to be a full-time permanent Mechanic/M.O.T Tester at Enveco’s Central Vehicle Maintenance Unit.
We are seeking to appoint a Mechanic/MOT Tester to join our very busy team. Experience is essential, and you must be able to work to a high standard. Workload to include compliance inspections, servicing, repairs, diagnosis and MOT testing. You will be working on the Enveco and Councils large fleet of vehicles and plant ranging from Refuse Wagons to Grass Cutters, JCBs to trailers.

Role Purpose:
* To carry out the routine repair, inspections and maintenance for all Vehicle types
* To prepare all Vehicle types for MOT
* To repair and maintain trade specific or specialised power tools, plant and equipment
* To ensure Health and Safety is adhered to at all times
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Work programme given with the requirement that the post holder determines the best approach within Enveco’s procedures and best practice
* Tackle and resolve straightforward problems and modify work daily to suit without waiting for instruction
* Ensure issues that have been identified with vehicles, HGV’s are, where applicable, repaired ready for use without reference to supervisor, to DVSA standards
* To repair and maintain any fleet of plant, agriculture and horticulture units to the HSE, industry and Enveco’s standards
* Required to use diagnostic equipment and practical skills and experience to identify problems and repair vehicles, plant and other equipment by agreed timescale
* Solutions to more complex problems to be referred to supervisor e.g. those with wider implications, cost, etc.
* Ensure the enforcement of taxi vehicle license requirements are met to avoid the risk of the public being hurt in unsafe and dangerous vehicles
* Prepare vehicles for MOT tests and Insurance inspections
* Carry out MOT’s appropriately to avoid the risk of the MOT tester being prosecuted which will reflect on the business as an MOT testing station
* Ensure HGV MOT’s are carried out to the required standard to pass the effects operator compliance risk score to avoid the risk of jeopardising the Operator Licence with the Traffic Commission
* Working within conditions which have considerable exposure to disagreeable, unpleasant or hazardous conditions where there is a requirement to wear protective clothing (PPE)
