Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible for the operational clinical management of Radiography and Fluoroscopy staff, leading the delivery of the Radiography and Fluoroscopy service and deputising for the Imaging Operational Manager.
The post-holder will have extensive post-registration clinical experience and undertaken post-graduate study. It would be highly desirable for the post-holder to have undertaken post-graduate study at a Masters Level.
To ensure the timely, efficient, and courteous provision of general radiography services, across general X-ray (including Cauldwell X-ray), Emergency Department, Theatres and Orthopaedics, and the Community Diagnostic Centre.
To provide clinical leadership for all radiographic examinations on site, and provide an efficient service while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
The post-holder will interact with the Imaging Department Modality managers to ensure the delivery of appropriate and reactive diagnostic imaging services.
The post-holder will liaise with a variety of staff throughout the Trust, and work with non-hospital staff involved in the provision of equipment, materials, and services for diagnostic imaging.
The post holder will assist with organisation of staff rotation in liaison with the other modality leads. It is envisaged that this post-holder will require 0.4wte administrative time and 0.6wte clinical time.
To provide staff training and supervision of junior staff and students.

To assist the Imaging Operational Manager in ensuring that service plans are submitted in line with the Trust requirements.
To work in partnership with Diagnostic Imaging clerical staff and the PACS/ RIS team in order to provide timely bookings and reports.
To be responsible for the rotation and training of student radiographers and work experience candidates, and act as a point of contact for this group (To train student radiographers if appropriate.)
To participate in the Governance of the Department in areas including Risk Management, Health and Safety, Research and Audit activities.
To ensure appropriate infection control measures are utilised where necessary, paying particular attention to personal protection as well as management of equipment or linen where contamination from bodily fluids has occurred.
To physically position the patient for a range of examinations, to ensure that image quality, patient comfort and patient safety are maintained at all times, whilst taking into account patient limitations and adapting standard techniques where necessary.
Person specification
Qualifications
* BSc Radiography (Hons) or Diploma of College of Radiographers (or equivalent) and HCPC Registered
* Postgraduate training at MSc level or equivalent
* Certificate in cannulation
* Management or leadership qualification
Experience
* Extensive experience at senior level (Band 7 radiographer or equivalent)
* Experience of managing staff, including individual appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues
* Evidence of report writing skills, presentation skills and investigation skills
* Evidence of leadership and team building, and change management experience
Skills
