This post with the Elderly Care department will provide wide experience in all aspects of Elderly Care including acute elderly care, chronic disease management, Orthogeriatrics, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, rehabilitation, and palliative care. The job is predominantly ward based. It will generally be based on one ward and with one consultant team but will rotate to different areas and consultant teams giving exposure to different sub-specialties. There are opportunities to participate in out-patient clinics including Parkinson’s disease clinics, Falls Clinics and Memory Clinics. There will be an expectation to contribute to the General Internal Medicine on-call rota, as per Trust policy. The department and the Trust provide regular teaching meetings and educational opportunities.
Main duties of the job
1. The normal working day will be from 9am to It consists of providing in-patient care for an allocated number of patients. This will on average be 12 to16 patients.
2. The post holder will be supported by a Specialist Registrar and consultant.
3. To undertake a daily ward round to review the patients, request the required investigations, review the results, and manage ongoing medical problems.
4. To attend the daily morning board round (to discuss with other members of the team; nurses, therapists, and discharge coordinators).
5. To actively participate in the multi-disciplinary meetings.

6. Medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC)
7. Full GMC registration with licence to practice
