The Organisation
The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.
We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other iconic green spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.
We are now looking for a Senior Communications Officer to join us on a full-time basis, for a 12 month fixed-term contract, working 36 hours per week. This role may also involve some evening and weekend work, especially during events and ceremonials.

The Role
As our Senior Communications Officer, you will produce powerful integrated communications across various channels to support our strategic aims.
You will reactively respond to media enquiries on wide-ranging topics across park management issues, delivering prompt and appropriate communications. These will include media statements, media briefings, Q&As, messages for the website and social media channels.
Mitigating potential communications issues and organisational risk, you’ll build productive relationships with media teams from various organisations, leveraging support and seeking opportunities to support our objectives and promote our projects.
Line managing the Communications Assistant, you will support them to develop in their role and raise the profile of the charity’s horticulture expertise and assist key team functions.
Additionally, you will:
- Brief and advise senior colleagues
- Develop and deliver strategic communications plans
- Undertake general press office duties
- Monitor and evaluate comms activity in a strategic manner
About You
To be considered as a Senior Communications Officer, you will need:
- Experience of working in a busy high-profile media team
- A proven track record of building excellent relationships with internal stakeholders and respected and high-profile external stakeholders
- A background of developing and implementing integrated, multi-channel, strategic communications plans
- The ability to challenge and persuade at senior level
- The ability to respond to media enquiries quickly and accurately, and be prepared to re-prioritise workload to maintain effective communications
