Physiotherapist Band 6 Surgery Respiratory
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our dynamic surgical respiratory team for an enthusiastic and innovative Band 6 physiotherapist. This post will be to provide expert respiratory and rehabilitation treatment across our ICU, respiratory, vascular, and surgical wards with occasional input to paediatrics for respiratory care.
You will have experience of working with acute surgical and respiratory patients and some experience of managing long-term conditions.
Acute experience at Band 5 level in core clinical areas is essential.
You will have experience of managing a busy caseload and the ability to work flexibly across the team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound clinical knowledge, organisational and time management skills. Some experience of staff supervision and management would be beneficial. You will have responsibility for supervision and training of junior staff and students and general team management.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the department 7-day service and on call respiratory rota.
This post will be a fixed-term post from 21/03/2025 - 20/03/2026.
Main duties of the job
This is a senior physiotherapist post requiring significant post graduate experience.
The post holder will be responsible for rapid response, advanced assessment & treatment of complex and/or chronic presentations and will provide highly specialist advice for patients within the hospital and community setting and teaching and training to therapy colleagues working in other clinical areas, and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will be responsible for supervision and training of other therapy staff including rotational band 5 staff, Therapy assistants and students.
The post holder will also undertake a co-ordinating role in the delivery of the therapy service within their specific clinical area on a day-to-day basis and this will include the provision of a 7-day therapy service in our clinical specialities.

Qualifications & Education
* Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registered
* Clinical education training
Knowledge and Training
* Significant post qualification experience in clinical area relevant to post
* Evidence of post graduate training in specialist clinical area
* Have an understanding of developments within the NHS and the Trust, and their implication on Physiotherapy
* Knowledge of evidence based practice
Experience
* Clinical experience at band 5 in core areas of respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurology and orthopaedics

* Demonstrates the ability to teach, guide and direct therapy assistants and students in clinical practice
* Flexible working to meet the need of the service
