Clinical skills andcompetency relevant to the role e.g
Desirable-Administration of influenza, intramuscular/ intranasal, pneumococcal vaccine,B12 injections.
Urinalysis,preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory.Venepuncture, ECG,Peak flow readings, Spirometry, inhaler technique,glucosetolerance test, blood pressure,temperature, height and weight-body mass index.
Good interpersonalskills ,proven customer care skills.
Main duties of the job
Duties and responsibilities:
Processing and management of laboratory samples via GPTR system as requested by GPs/nurses.
Perform ABPI on patients when requested by GP as per protocol.
Administer influenza, shingles, pneumococcal, B12 vaccines to eligible patients as outlined in practice protocol.
Basic wound care (dressings) under guidance of GP/Practice Nurses.
ECG recording.
New patient health checks.
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording.
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation.
Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being.
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.

Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or working towards this or equivalent qualification. Previous experience working in a general practice or other healthcare environment. Experience working under indirect supervision. Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Experience
* Working under the direct supervision of the SENIOR PN or the practice nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
* Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.
* Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.
* Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.
