Due to a recently awarded significant tender in the rail sector, a fantastic opportunity has become available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work with a major multi-disciplined contractor.
The Senior QS will form part of a new team at the beginning of a five-year framework allowing the successful candidate to help deliver a range of exciting projects from inception to completion. Schemes are a mixture of civil engineering, earthworks, and new rail station construction projects that will be administered under NEC 4 terms and conditions.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead the commercial management of a portfolio of projects valued at circa £20M-£30M.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Quantity Surveyor's responsibilities will include:
1. Drafting and negotiation of supply chain contracts
2. Management of Subcontractors
3. Management of allocated Control Accounts with the site team including cost/value reconciliations and out-turn forecast & spend profiling
4. Keeping costs and records to ensure agreement of Defined Costs with Network Rail Site Representatives
5. Utilisation of Site Commercial and Document Systems (Oracle, CEMAR, ProjectWise, Forecasting Tools)
6. Providing commercial support to the Procurement process
Experience Required
Suitable applicants will be educated to BSc Quantity Surveying or similar and will be able to demonstrate no less than 3-4 years of experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level. Experience working on civil engineering, earthworks, or utility projects under NEC terms is essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of commercial success delivering rail-related civils schemes valued upwards of £10M.
