Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Secondary, Chichester, West Sussex

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive secondary school in Chichester, West Sussex. This rewarding role begins immediately or whenever the successful candidate’s notice period has been completed, offering an annual salary between £17,500 and £19,500 (Depending on Experience), and operates on a full-time basis during term time only.
In this role, you will be an essential part of the classroom, working closely with the class teacher to support students. Your responsibilities will include taking small group interventions, helping students with their work, and providing one-to-one support to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will be required to support students with a range of academic and emotional needs, and so resilience, patience, and flexibility are key attributes for this role.
As a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will be:
* Support the class teacher with planning, delivering, and adapting lessons to suit students’ individual learning needs
* Assist students with their academic work, offering targeted support to help them progress
* Lead small group interventions, focusing on specific learning objectives to improve student outcomes
* Provide one-to-one support for students with EHCPs, ensuring that their specific needs are met
* Promote a positive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and building their confidence
* Assist with behaviour management to ensure all students are focused and engaged in learning
* Support students in developing key skills, including organisation, time management, and independent work
* Track student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher on how best to further support each individual
* Help with pastoral support when needed, providing a caring, supportive presence in the classroom
* Foster a safe, inclusive environment for all students, adhering to safeguarding and child protection policies
Requirements:
* A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field
* Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance
* Previous experience in a similar role as a Learning Support Assistant or working with children in an educational setting is advantageous
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Patience, flexibility, and resilience when working with students with varying levels of support needs
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability in different classroom settings
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps)
* Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one
