Manager of Operations
Windsor International Airport (“YQG”) is currently looking to hire a Manager of Operations. We are looking for a result-oriented, reliable individual to support our operations Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficiency and maintaining quality standards. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration are essential to achieving organizational goals.
Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager ensures the necessary tools, processes, and resources are in place to achieve the team’s targets and metrics to maintain a safe operation. Constantly seeks ways to drive operational efficiency while meeting defined financial performance targets and supporting team members.
1. Monitor airport activities ensuring adherence to the Canadian Aviation Regulations, including TP312 and Safety Management System; conduct regular inspections and report on facilities, equipment, and airfield infrastructure, and direct or perform maintenance as needed, including documentation.
2. Together with the Director of Operations, manage operational programs such as Wildlife Management, Snow & Ice Control, Apron Management, and Preventative Maintenance.
3. Manage work assigned to employees and external contractors working on airport grounds.
4. Work with the Director of Safety and Security to ensure compliance with all safety and security regulations.
5. Responsible for the overall appearance of airport grounds and facilities, including the removal of obstacles from runways and approaches, and controlling weeds and FOD.
6. Operate a variety of motor vehicles such as pickup trucks, heavy equipment, tractors, runway sweepers, and light equipment.
7. Assist in creating a long-term plan for equipment and facility replacement/alterations.
8. Together with the Director of Operations, gather and provide information to airport users regarding local airport procedures.
9. Be on-call in the event of an airport emergency.
10. Provide assistance and support for emergencies by providing first aid, operating ARFF equipment, operating radios, providing information, and working with mutual aid agencies.
11. Initiate emergency response procedures and/or the activation of the Airport Emergency Response Plan.
12. With assistance from the Director of Operations, create and maintain a work schedule for staff, maximizing resources during core hours while effectively managing overtime, vacations, and training needs.
13. Conduct monthly staff meetings.
14. Delegate to, supervise, and train Airport Operations staff, utilizing the Vortex system.
15. Will perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
1. Must have computer experience.
2. Must have a valid DZ driver’s license.
3. Must have a valid Police Clearance.
4. Knowledge and experience in the operation of heavy equipment relating to snow removal and pavement and grounds maintenance in an airport environment.
5. Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
6. Knowledge in ARFF and the development and maintenance of the ARFF training program.
7. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with an ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
8. Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
9. Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
10. Must be able to become ARFF Certified within 1 year of employment.
Education
1. Must have a College Diploma or a University Degree with a focus on Aviation/Airport Operations Management or Technical Operations Management or equivalent experience.
Experience
1. Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in airport operations, including knowledge of TP312 and the Canadian Aviation Regulations.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising in a unionized environment.
Rate of Pay:
$42.15 hour
