Metallurgical Technologist/Technician
Role - Metallurgical Technologist/Technician
Salary - Competitive + shift allowance where applicable.
Location - Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire
What you need to know about the role:
As a Metallurgical Technologist/Technician working within our Technical Services department, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
* Sample Preparation Techniques: Machining, milling, grinding, and polishing.
* Metallurgical Assessments: Using microscope techniques.
* Mechanical Testing: Testing final products.
* Administrative Duties: Reporting and certification related to the above processes.
* Supporting Product Developments: Assisting with manufacturing trials as needed.
* Liaising with Internal Teams: Collaborating with internal mill technical teams.
You will actively ensure that all work adheres to HS&E requirements in real-time.

What We Need to Know About You:
We are looking for candidates preferably educated to NVQ Level 3 in a Materials Science or Engineering discipline - or equivalent - or those who are time-served in a technical or engineering-based discipline.
We are seeking motivated individuals with a willingness to learn due to the wide scope of work. An ideal candidate will have the ability to follow detailed work instructions and comprehensive risk assessments. Experience in a similar environment is advantageous.

Other Important Skills:
* Basic knowledge of mechanical testing techniques and/or experience using machine tools.
* Effective communication skills.
* Motivation to work independently or as part of a small team.
* IT literacy.
* Knowledge of the integrated iron and steelmaking process is a plus.
