Occupational Therapy Acute Stroke Unit Team Lead

The post holder provides specialist occupational therapy service to clients within Acute Stroke Unit. They will be leading the Acute Stroke Unit OT service and team. The post holder is responsible for managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centred practice in the assessment and the planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions. The post holder will be working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team, taking on an active role in identifying, coordinating and organising the appropriate care and rehabilitation service and home/hospital set-up needed to ensure the safe and timely discharge of patient from the acute hospital.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be providing specialist occupational therapy service to clients within the Acute Stroke Unit and leading the Acute stroke Unit within OT. They will be responsible for managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centred practice in the assessment and the planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions. The post holder will support in SSNAP data as a national framework within the ASU at Kingston Hospital.

Person Specification
Education
* Diploma/ Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registered
* Number of years in Acute experience
* Recruitment and selection
* Research and/or Audit training or involvement in these activities
* Leadership and management training
Experience
* Number of years in acute experience, of which at least 2 need to be in a role where you were a senior within an acute setting
* Evidence of continual professional development including reflective practice and participation in learning and developing a service
* Experience in working in any of the following clinical areas- Neurology, Stroke, Frailty
* Knowledge base around Stroke - SSNAP, upper limb therapy, cognitive rehab, d/c process
* Experience in completing staff appraisals and PDP
* Experience in working in community health and social care setting
