About the Role: Pulse is seeking a dedicated and experienced Rotational Pharmacist to join our team in Aylesbury, as a Rotational Pharmacist, you will engage in all areas of the pharmacy service, including the dispensary, wards/clinical pharmacy services, the medicines resource centre (covering medicines information and aseptic services). You will be expected to contribute to the development of pharmacy services within the Trust, adhere to all Trust policies and procedures, and uphold the highest standards of professional practice. Role Requirements: Maintaining concentration to avoid medication errors is crucial. It is essential to work efficiently in busy environments, whether on wards or in dispensaries, despite interruptions. Supervising the handling of hazardous cytotoxic and radio-pharmacy medicines in a restricted area with protective clothing is necessary. Providing accurate information about medicines to medical staff, nursing staff, and patients in a sensitive manner is a key responsibility. Addressing treatment issues for seriously ill or end-stage patients is important. Effective communication about urgent or emergency situations is required. Managing urgent actions, such as supplying emergency medicines and responding to recalls outside pharmacy hours, is essential. Participation in extended hours and rotational programmes, including responding to EDC calls and working alone at night, is expected. Key Responsibilities: Participate in dispensary services, ensuring prescriptions meet legal requirements and are appropriate for treatment. Assemble and label medicines accurately, confirm their identity, and communicate effectively with medical staff and patients. Dispense clinical trials and provide information to ensure proper administration and understanding of medicines. Manage formulary procedures and participate in ward/clinical pharmacy services, reviewing prescriptions and solving patient-related issues. Educate patients and carers on drug therapy and record significant information to ensure safety. Participate in the medicine’s information service, recording and researching enquiries, and providing solutions. Contribute to aseptic services, including cytotoxic chemotherapy and intravenous nutrition mixtures, and maintain related records. Supervise and train junior staff, participate in clinical pharmacy training programs, and act as a role model. Support team morale, be approachable for clinical issues, and maintain a Continuing Professional Development portfolio. Participate in emergency duty commitments and extended hours services. What we are looking for in a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist: Qualifications: Accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). A master’s degree in pharmacy (MPharm). Experience: At least 18 months of pharmacy experience. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good interpersonal skills. Excellent team management skills.
