The Service & Team: A career working with children and young people Cornwall Council offers fantastic career opportunities within its Residential Care Sector, for Residential Care Workers, Senior Residential Care Workers and Waking Night Residential Care Workers who want to work with children and young people. In addition to a competitive salary, good pension, and payments for working outside of office hours and sleep in shifts, successful applicants will be provided with training and opportunities for career progression.
Main purpose of the Job: To be part of a skilled team providing direct care and support to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people. You will encourage the children to have fun, to learn, grow and develop in a safe way. Key duties and responsibilities are outlined in the role profile. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
What you'll need to succeed: Ideally you are enthusiastic about making positive changes in the lives of children who may have experienced abuse and/or trauma. You should be child centred, able to use your own initiative, and work as part of a team. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and partnership working when working with parents and other professionals. You should have or are willing to work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care (which the Council will fund).

The salary range is a career grade, from £25,772 - £37,945 depending upon qualifications and experience. A generous relocation package will be available for eligible candidates. For successful applicants who are new to Cornwall Council, a recruitment and retention bonus will be paid; £1000 when the job starts, with an additional £1000 paid after successfully completing the first year.
