To manage daily lab activities.
Responsibilities
Chief Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Project support:
1. Providing technical support for HPLC-based analytics, in regards to both equipment trouble-shooting and analytical methods
2. Performing data entry for project work and GMP activities
3. Assisting with the setting up and clearing up of manufacturing processes as needed, including decontamination and equilibration of equipment and buffer preparation
Lab maintenance:
1. Maintaining lab equipment, e.g. calibration of balances and meters, cleaning and testing of HPLCs
2. Managing consumables, e.g. maintaining stocks of buffer salts and solvents, updating the red card system for new items
3. Ensuring completion of daily/weekly/monthly housekeeping tasks, e.g. ordering, deliveries, waste/recycling, testing safety showers
4. Identifying problematic areas (e.g. mess, clutter, unsafe working spaces), informing persons responsible and taking measures to prevent recurrence
5. Communicating with suppliers and clients regarding the shipping and receipt of materials
6. Communicating with engineering regarding mechanical and electrical issues in the lab
7. Overseeing shop floor transformation activities (e.g. 5S, Kaizens, Open Actions) ensuring issues are brought to the attention of others and actions are initiated and completed
Critical Tasks
1. Ensuring a safe, clean and efficient lab environment for development and manufacture work, providing assistance on projects as needed
2. Identifying potential abnormalities (hazards, contaminations, inefficiencies) and taking steps to improve/resolve these issues

1. Maintain an environment free of abnormalities, pre-empting abnormalities or resolving them as they arise
2. Provide prompt and efficient assistance on project work and help ensure punctual completion of batches and shipments
Critical Skills
1. Good time management and ability to balance project work with daily lab maintenance duties
2. Good understanding of HPLC systems (specifically Waters and Agilent) and good trouble-shooting skills
3. A good working knowledge of GMP
4. Technically orientated
5. Data-handling and data entry skills
6. Good team working skills
7. Good communication and diplomatic skills
8. Flexibility and adaptability
Requirements
1. HNC or higher in Chemistry or Biology.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £23,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
