Role Purpose: To assist the Underwriting Manager in maintaining credit standards within the team along with utilisation of mandate for credit sign off in accordance with the Bank’s policy Support the Underwriting Manager with managing the Bridging Credit inbox To be responsible for supporting, managing and motivating a team of Bridging Underwriting Assistants to meet their key deliverables and objectives to ensure consistency and continued improvement of process and service Responsibilities: Make lending decisions in line with the Bank’s Credit Risk Policy and individual mandate level Adhere to internal underwriting policy and regulatory requirements – FCA, PRA, Money Laundering, Prevention of Financial Crime, Data Protection, etc. Assisting with the training of new underwriters and underwriting assistants within the Unregulated Underwriting team Ensuring that information concerning each loan is accurately and comprehensively entered into the Bank’s electronic systems, both prior to and upon drawdown Work alongside the Underwriting Manager to provide training to the wider Bridging Underwriting Team Exercise your mandate to include Offer Letter and File drawdown sign off Ensure that all applications are processed within set service standards and in line with key performance indicators Complete Performance Management activity for UWAs within the team, including monthly 1 to 1’s, performance monitoring and objective reviews Identify opportunities and proactively make recommendations for continuous improvement Cover for absence or when business levels demand to ensure service levels and standards are maintained Undertake project and ad hoc pieces of work at Management request Skills and Experience sought: Essential Experience Previous Bridging, Underwriting or lending experience within the property environment Professional communications skills, able to communicate with businesses and colleagues by telephone, email and face to face Strong understanding of the regulatory environment Liaising with Introducers and/or external customers Highly motivated individual, committed to providing outstanding service to customers and clients Desirable Experience Previously and or holds a lending mandate 5 years Bridging/Internal sales/Business development /Underwriting Experience Managing and prioritising work for a team of people Remuneration and Benefits: competitive salary and discretionary bonus scheme matched pension contributions up to 7% 26 days annual leave plus two wellbeing days and opportunity to purchase additional holiday flexible and hybrid working private medical insurance via Vitality life, income protection and critical illness insurance enhanced family leave pay extensive learning and personal development opportunities electric car scheme and cycle to work scheme season ticket loan wellbeing support – discounted gym membership, employee assistance programme, 24/7 private GP access for staff and their immediate family (online), 1:1 key life stage coaching
