This is an exciting opportunity for two Student Counsellors to contribute to the provision of outstanding pastoral care for all students. Working from within the Guidance Team, the successful candidate will provide a confidential and professional counselling service to students on a part-time basis during term-time only.
Position Type: Part-time fixed term, up to 21 hours per week, term-time only until 16 February in the first instance – possibly longer.
Permanent part-time: 9 hours per week, term-time only.
Start date: January 2024
Pro-rata salary for fixed term post: up to £17,158 per annum
Pro-rata salary for permanent post: £7,354 per annum (Support Staff Pay Spine Point 21 £35,451 per annum FTE)
The post holder will be joining a core team of typically two part-time student counsellors and three part-time Wellbeing Co-ordinators and will be able to professionally manage an occasionally complex caseload within the boundaries of a short-term counselling model (6-10 sessions).
The successful candidate will see a range of students with pre-booked counselling appointments scheduled during the college day. There are dedicated spaces for counselling sessions and the successful candidate will have a consistent meeting space. Appointments could run from 8am until 4pm; however, the successful candidate can discuss what hours will work best, ensuring that their available hours complement, rather than duplicate, the team’s current offer. The number of hours may be increased by mutual agreement if required.
The Student Counsellor must be appropriately qualified, insured, and experienced with accreditation, or imminent accreditation, from a professional body, as per the person specification. The successful candidate will have relevant experience and will be able to demonstrate competence in working with young people/adults.
