Job overview
An opportunity has arisen due to an internal promotion for an experienced finance professional to join our finance team in the East of England Region, NHS England and Improvement.
We are looking for an individual who can successfully operate in a fast paced and exciting environment, has experience working with large and complex organisations and is comfortable working to tight deadlines.
Main duties of the job
The key elements of this role are to:
* Support the consolidation of reported financial positions across the East of England region.
* Support accurate reporting of actual and forecast data to satisfy both national and regional reporting requirements.
* Lead and support other elements of the monthly reporting and planning processes as required.
* Provide insightful financial analysis to identify key trends in data for review and discussion to drive improvement.
* Provide contextual and benchmarking data to strengthen our interpretation and analysis of the data into meaningful information.
* Lead on specific projects and support areas commensurate with the role and seniority as required.
* Build relationships with peers in other regions and national colleagues to influence emerging requirements.
* Attend national Financial Reporting working groups as required and support regional organisations in implementing national reporting guidance and resolving queries.
* Actively contribute to internal finance team development and promote positive and inclusive culture, paying attention to equality and diversity in the team and across the directorate.

The individual should be able to demonstrate evidence against the following 6 essential criteria as part of their application:
* CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant, preferably with some knowledge of the NHS financial framework (although this is not essential).
* Strong analytical skills and be able to interpret data and translate into key messages.
* Highly developed communication skills with the capability to analyse, review and make sense of highly complex, sensitive or contentious information.
* Substantial experience of working within a commissioning or assurance environment.
* Evidence of working under pressure and adhering to strict reporting timelines.
* Ability to work as part of a team and liaise/support a diverse group of managers.
