The CMS engineering team is expected to operate at the highest calibre with the ability to design innovative and robust systems and ensure that they are installed to the highest standards by the systems integrator.
CMS operates from offices located in the UK (London), Europe (Brussels), North America (New York) & APAC (Hong Kong).
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate AV Engineering Consultant to join our global engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile global projects, collaborating with industry-leading professionals and clients.
As an AV Engineering Consultant, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of complex audiovisual systems. You will collaborate with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver bespoke AV solutions that exceed expectations.
The role is a full time, remote position, working primarily with our UK and European offices on global projects and will be home / onsite based. The applicant would preferably be based in the UK, although EU / other geographic candidates would be considered, based on their individual dynamic and capability.
For any geographic candidates a significant working day overlap with our UK / European offices would be expected throughout the year (GMT / BST & CET), with flexibility expected.
This role is expected to involve some global travel for verifying systems installed by system integrators which will involve weekend working during international project trips.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed AV system designs, including system schematics, signal flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
* Collaborate with internal and external architects, engineers, and clients to integrate AV solutions seamlessly into building designs.
* Conduct site surveys and evaluations to assess technical requirements and ensure design feasibility.
* Provide technical guidance during project execution, including system commissioning and troubleshooting.
* Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including reports, drawings, and technical specifications & commissioning guides / guidance.
* Stay up to date with the latest AV technologies, trends, and industry standards.
* Hands on commissioning experience of AV systems with contactor & client technical teams
* Support business development efforts by providing technical input during client presentations and proposals.
* Collaborate with and lead our internal (non-engineering) CAD teams in drawing complex AV system designs.
* As required, develop detailed schematics for AV system designs using Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM360 software.
* Ensure all designs adhere to project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
* Conduct quality checks on deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards prior to internal / external release.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in complex professional AV system design.
* Strong understanding of AV technologies, including audio, video, control and networking-based AV systems.
* Experience in designing standard and enhanced bespoke UC conferencing systems, including, Zoom and Microsoft Teams rooms and event spaces, etc.
* Experience in engineering systems incorporating Q-SYS and Biamp DSPs, Dante systems, AVoIP systems (such as Crestron NVX, etc.), SDI systems, vision mixers and large format LED displays with video wall processors, etc.
* Good understanding of IT network system design and network switch architecture /configuration (Cisco / Netgear).
* Experience working within high profile client /project and construction design teams, along with being able to communicate AV system requirements to architects, M&E / IT engineers and other trade teams, etc.
* Proficiency in software tools such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM360 software.
* Familiarity with industry standards such as AVIXA, ANSI, BSI, ISO, etc. and building codes.
* The candidate must be proactive, self-motivated and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, along with strong problem-solving skills are mandatory.
* Familiarisation and experience in working with Microsoft Office 365 software apps (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / OneNote, etc.) and UC platforms such as Microsoft Teams & Zoom, etc.
* Ability to learn new tools as required, ensuring that equipment specified will fill the role and creating template configurations for contractors.
* Relevant certifications such as CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I (preferred).
* A degree in engineering, audiovisual technology, or a related field (preferred).
