Job summary We are looking to employ an Advanced Clinical Physiologist to deliver an EEG and EP service including sleep- deprived and video/ambulatory recordings for adults and over 16's who are suffering from neurological disorders/ This role involves practising autonomously within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred and will carry out highly specialized clinical neurophysiology investigations on the central and peripheral nervous system and will provide physiologist-only reports in selected cases (within agreed scope of practice and quality assurance frameworks). You will be responsible for the day to day management and leadership of the neurophysiologysection on the RBH site. You would be working in partnership with the on-site the clinical neurology team and other healthcare professionals, students and trainees, service users, carers, and families to deliver a safe and efficient service. There is opportunity to participate in the planning and preparation of the intended service expansion in 2025/26 plus assume responsibility for recruitment, training, and supervision roles with the future appointment of additional clinical physiologists. Main duties of the job The core clinical duties of the appointee, carried out without supervision, are as follows: Perform EEG and evoked potential (EP) studies on inpatients and outpatients, including portable, sleep-deprived and video/ambulatory recordings - to adult (over 16s) patients suffering from neurological disorders. Provide physiologist-only EEG and EP study reports in selected cases within a strict clinical governance framework. Carry out and report basic upper limb nerve conduction studies (NCS) independently and carry out more complex NCS cases under supervision of a consultant. Provide advice to clinicians requesting EEG and Eps. Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the neurophysiology service. Oversee the maintenance of the EEG/EP/EMG equipment. Attend the weekly inpatient case review meeting with the clinical neurology team. Work collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with the local neurology consultants. Be responsible for quality assurance and audit of RBH neurophysiology services in collaboration with the local lead consultant. With planned service expansion, assist with the training and supervision of clinical physiologists and allied health professionals. Contribute to investigations into any complaints regarding the service and report findings to department manager in accordance with local procedure. Attend departmental clinic governance meeting.
