The Project: We are looking for an outstanding individual to contribute to the development and delivery of a newly planned MPharm programme at Bangor University. The new programme will align with the GPhC’s new Standards for Initial Education and Training of Pharmacists. This is a time of real opportunity for pharmacy education in North Wales and we are looking for an experienced, registered pharmacist to assist in the development and delivery of the curriculum in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice.
Purpose of the Job:
1. To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of projects and students.
2. To develop teaching materials or methodologies, for example course design or assessment.
3. To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
4. To conduct research or academic scholarship of leading national standard in a relevant field.
5. To undertake School and College leadership roles and other duties as directed by the Head of School.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with the Professor of Pharmacy and Head of Pharmacy Programme, the post-holder will:
Teaching duties:
1. Support the development and delivery of innovative approaches to MPharm course design, learning, teaching, and assessment practice.
2. Support the development of student experiential placements.
3. Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials.
4. Develop and deliver simulation activities relevant to MPharm teaching.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The post-holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.
2. The post-holder must comply with all applicable health and safety policies, procedures and risk assessments.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential Qualifications/Training:
1. Be a pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
2. Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
Desirable Qualifications/Training:
1. Member or Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
2. Educated to PhD level or equivalent in pharmacy or a relevant subject area.
Essential Experience/Knowledge:
1. Experience in UK pharmacy practice.
Skills/Abilities:
1. Excellent verbal and written skills.
2. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative.
