An exciting opportunity for a Housing Management lawyer to join our team in Manchester, with plenty of client contact and on-going training and support.

Our team pulls-together specialists from across the firm with particular expertise in social housing, providing a “one-stop-shop” for our social housing clients by delivering seamless, sector focused advice across a wide range of legal areas, including corporate and commercial, planning and environment, procurement, development, construction, commercial property, finance, charging, sales, governance, renewable energy, housing and asset management, employment and HR, debt recovery, and property and commercial litigation.
Our Social Housing team and Social Housing Finance team are ranked in the national tables by the Chambers and Legal 500 directories. We act for a large number of clients in respect of all aspects of housing management. Our extensive client base includes regional and national RPs.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:
Our Housing Management department has lawyers based in London, Southampton, Taunton and Manchester. We act for a large number of Registered Providers of Social Housing on all aspects of their housing functions including housing conditions claims, possession actions, antisocial behaviour, leasehold queries and policy and procedure work.
We want to invest in your career, and help you to become a recognised expert in your own right, so you will have plenty of one-to-one development and encouragement from your supervising partner (Matthew Wilson), and the wider team. We will ensure that you get a good level of client contact and potential for early responsibility.
Our asset management team, which handles the departments housing conditions claims, has a strong reputation within the sector and enjoyed significant success at trial defending claims. This has led to an influx of instructions, including pre-litigation and litigated claims. This role will focus on defending housing conditions claims.
Excellent client care and relationship skills are a must as much of the role will include developing and fostering relationships.
You will soon become an integral part of this highly regarded team, playing a key part in delivering an excellent level of service to our clients and building your legal career accordingly.
This role is right for you if:
You will demonstrate talent, ambition and a real interest in the social housing sector. We expect you to have built up enough experience to be able to manage a housing conditions claim, both pre-litigation and litigated files, with minimal supervision, either in house or private practice.
The team drafts most of its own pleadings, and you will have gained experience of undertaking such work along with preparing witness statements for use at trial.
Advocacy experience will be advantageous, but is not essential. Most importantly you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, being able to adapt your style to communicate effectively with a wide range of professional people, and enthusiastic about delivering excellent quality service to your clients.
We expect you to be able to use your initiative, and be a forward-planner, anticipating your clients’ needs in advance wherever possible.
