The Strategic Governance Officer will work together as an omni-competent team sharing responsibility for delivery across a wide range of activity. We are seeking proactive and engaging candidates who want to make a difference to Surrey Police. The Corporate Development Department (CDD), and Service Improvement Team within CDD, exists to:
* Creation and maintenance of a forward-looking direction, business plan and strategy for Surrey Police
* Identification and management of risk linked to business planning, investment and strategy
* Identification, promotion and dissemination of best practice and innovation
* Positive engagement with academia, think tanks, national policing bodies, and partner agencies
* Ensuring the organisation learns from internal and external inspections
* Developing evidence-driven insight to spot risks, issues and opportunities; assisting business owners
* Positive and proactive engagement with HMICFRS and other inspection and audit functions
* Positive and proactive engagement with the PCC and their Office
* Oversight and monitoring of work in response to inspection reports and recommendations

* Extensive experience of business planning, strategic development and/or organisational learning.
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of a range of research methods and their optimal use.
* Significant experience of analysing information to extract meaningful conclusions and professionally presenting these to a range of stakeholders in document format and/or verbal briefings.
* Highly efficient planning and organisational skills.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of the principal inspection methodologies in a policing context.
* Knowledge of the police service and the context in which it operates.
* Ability to manage a number of activities and research projects concurrently.
* The ability to effectively research and collate information.
* The ability to professionally present material in formal reports to a high standard and verbally present these to a range of stakeholders when required.
* Strong interpersonal skills with external and internal people of different ranks and grades.
