We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated nurse to become part of the Research Nursing Team at the National Institute for Health Research UCLH Clinical Research Facility (CRF). The NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility is a well-established facility covering two sites: the Leonard Wolfson Experimental Neurology Centre at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and the NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility on the Bloomsbury campus.
The research nursing team provides exceptional specialist nursing care to a wide variety of patients taking part in early phase clinical trials of experimental cancer and medicine treatments. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and organisational skills and a keen attention to detail.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will have experience in neurology and clinical research, and an interest in working across a range of studies, including cancer and medicine.
* Coordinate and support clinical trials within the CRF.
* Responsible for coordination of care of patients on trials, collection and preparation of biological samples, administration of experimental agents, and monitoring of side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities.
* Educate patients and carers about their involvement in clinical trials.
* Liaise with drug companies and study sponsors, ensuring accurate collection and submission of data in line with study protocols.
* Support and develop new members of the CRF team.

Job Responsibilities
The post holder will be supported by senior nurses and will work closely with the Research Nursing Team, Principal Investigators, and research support staff. Applicants must be a Registered Nurse with post-registration experience. Experience in neurology is essential, and experience in clinical research is desirable. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week.

* Teaching or mentor course
* Completed/working towards degree in the speciality or related fields
Experience
* Experience acting as a patient advocate
* Previous experience in audit and evaluation
* Knowledge of Trust research governance issues
* Clinical research experience
* Experience of teaching patients and staff
* Experience of phlebotomy, cannulation and management of central lines
* Experience with the specialty (neurology/neurodegenerative)
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to take charge and delegate duties

* Knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines

Contract and Salary
£35,964 to £43,780 a year, inclusive of HCAS. Permanent, Full-time.
