Job Description We are currently seeking a flexible and resourceful Information Governance Officer who will play a crucial role in managing and protecting the University’s information, reporting to and supporting the Information Governance Lead and Data Protection Officer at Bath Spa University. About the Role As Information Governance Officer your role will be key in advising colleagues on their responsibilities and putting Information Governance into practice alongside risk identification, management and improvement. You will manage information rights requests, including subject access and freedom of information requests, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. You’ll provide expert advice on information governance, develop and update policies, and ensure the University complies with data protection regulations. Working collaboratively with IT and other departments, you’ll assess risks related to data processing, support investigations, and lead training initiatives to raise awareness on data security. You'll also build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the ICO, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of operational processes and compliance systems. About You You will have a degree or equivalent experience, strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation, and proven experience handling FOI requests, SARs, and third-party disclosures. You will have excellent written and interpersonal skills, the ability to present complex information clearly, and a high level of attention to detail. Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft 365, are essential, along with the ability to manage workloads independently, prioritise tasks, and work well under pressure.
