We seek a motivated Criminal Defense Legal Assistant & Administrator to assist our attorneys with case management, client communication, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and a willingness to adapt to the fast-paced nature of criminal defense work.
Responsibilities
1. Draft and file basic motions, memoranda, and other legal documents.
2. Communicate with courts, district attorneys, clients, and co-counsel regarding case matters.
3. Manage case files, both physical and electronic, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
Administrative Responsibilities
1. Provide direct support to the firm’s owner, including assistance with personal and business accounts.
2. Monitor and manage phone calls, emails, and general correspondence.
3. Screen potential new clients and coordinate initial consultations.
4. Maintain and update physical and electronic case files.
5. Oversee scheduling and management of the attorney’s calendar, including court dates, client meetings, and deadlines.
Qualifications
1. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
3. Adaptability to new environments, procedures, and technology.
4. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
5. Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information.
6. Creative thinker with problem-solving abilities.
Requirements
1. Legal assistant experience strongly preferred.
2. Criminal defense experience preferred but not required.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
4. Must be available to work in-office Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
