Job summary
The Trust is looking to recruit a 6-month fixed term Locum Consultant Neurologist to be based at the University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) site to ensure that patients have access to high quality Neurology services locally in a timely manner.
Applicants must be included on the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology or be within six months of obtaining their CCT at the date of interview. The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive high-quality outpatient Neurology service.
Main duties of the job
This is a 4 PA Locum post based at University Hospital Lewisham. The job consists of:
* 2 weekly Neurology OPD clinics
* Triage
* SPA

Clinical Responsibilities
* A full-time post-holder would be expected to undertake 2 neurology clinics each week (4 hours each). We would encourage colleagues to develop specialty clinics, provided that they are of clinical relevance to the service and local needs
* There is a commitment to adequate levels of secretarial cover on each site. Consultants are provided with sufficient office space and IT support
* There is currently no on-call commitment
Medical Education & Teaching
Candidates are expected to contribute to departmental educational meetings and clinical supervision of doctors in training
Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance
Undertake or supervise clinical audit and comply with Clinical Governance requirements
Continuing Professional Development
* Participate in continuing professional development at local and national level
* Implement audit and research findings as appropriate in clinical practice:
* Prepare and participate in an annual appraisal in accordance with Trust policy, in line with the Trusts commitment to supporting revalidation
* A willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels
* The Trust is committed to providing mentoring to newly appointed consultants

* Support the Trust to deliver quality patient care
* Contribute to the development of clinical and organisational protocols and guidelines

Qualifications Essential
* MBBS or equivalent
* Fully Registered with the GMC and hold a License to Practice
* MRCP or equivalent
* On the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology or CCT for Neurology or within six months of obtaining CCT at interview date
* Specialist qualification in neurology
