About the role
Are you a regulatory expert with a strategic mindset and the ability to drive compliance excellence? As Head of Conduct Regulation (Operations) at NFU Mutual, you will play a crucial role in setting and delivering the FCA Conduct Regulation and Financial Crime strategy, ensuring alignment with business risk appetite and regulatory standards.
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you'll lead the development and implementation of policies that support business objectives while ensuring adherence to FCA standards. Your expertise will help shape regulatory interpretation, governance oversight, and financial crime prevention across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
* Shaping regulatory strategy - Define and develop the FCA Conduct Regulation and Financial Crime strategy in collaboration with the Head of Compliance and Risk Director.
* Regulatory guidance - Provide expert interpretation of FCA regulations, ensuring the business remains compliant and up to date with market practices.
* Stakeholder management - Act as the primary point of contact for the FCA, coordinating regulatory interactions and ensuring successful outcomes.
* Governance and oversight - Lead compliance consultancy and financial crime planning, reporting, and assurance to support business risk management and decision-making.
* Leadership and team development - Manage and develop a team of compliance professionals, ensuring they are equipped to support business needs.
This is a high-profile role offering the opportunity to influence regulatory strategy at the highest levels of the organisation.
About you
We're looking for an experienced regulatory leader with a deep understanding of FCA compliance, financial crime prevention, and governance frameworks. You will be comfortable working with the Executive team and senior stakeholders, engaging with external regulators, and providing subject matter expertise on compliance and risk matters.
What you'll need to succeed:
Technical expertise:
* Extensive knowledge of FCA Conduct Regulation and compliance best practices, across general insurance and financial services.
* Experience in financial crime prevention and risk management within insurance or financial services.
* Ability to interpret and apply FCA Handbook requirements to business operations.
* Strong background in compliance reporting and regulatory interaction.
Leadership and non-technical skills:
* Stakeholder engagement skills, with experience influencing senior leadership, governance committees, and external regulators.
* Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop compliance teams.
* Strategic thinker who can align regulatory policies with business objectives and risk appetite.
* Change management expertise, with the ability to drive process improvements and implement compliance initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Essential: Professional qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), Financial Crime Diploma).
* Significant Senior Management experience in a regulatory or compliance role within financial services/insurance.
