This LSA role is in a specialist provision for children aged 7-19, all of whom have experienced significant trauma and face social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
There is a real focus on holistic and restorative practices, creating empathy wherever possible. The school moves away from punitive measures, utilizing manual handling training only when absolutely necessary.
A practical trial day will take place in the school to ensure the role is suitable for you. This is dependent on your ability to start ASAP or if you have a notice period and are looking for a January start.

In addition, can you ensure the children's safety? You will receive comprehensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA training. As an aspiring clinical psychologist, you will have ten years to qualify and identify areas of genuine interest and skills that need enhancement.
Responsibilities include:
1. Supporting 11-16 secondary-aged students with EHCPs, including those with Autism, OCD, and varying degrees of social anxiety.
2. Engaging in physical work combined with pragmatic approaches to foster academic progress tailored to each child's context.
3. Managing some anti-social behavior, which is part of the role when aiding society's most vulnerable children.
4. Implementing various therapies and holistic processes; even small progress is celebrated as success.
5. Addressing conditions such as Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
6. Focusing on the cognitive abilities of diverse students across all ages.
7. Facilitating positive engagement to provide children with a sense of acceptance, utilizing varied approaches when traditional talking therapies may not be effective.
8. Setting objectives and promoting independence, especially for students in assisted living.
