Designer
We are a growing fashion catalogue retailer looking for a Designer to join our successful in-house creative team based in Knowsley, Liverpool. This is a great opportunity for a driven and passionate Designer who is looking to take the next step in their career.
You’ll be expected to deliver excellent design work covering print and digital products combined with strong interpersonal, time management, and presentation skills to ensure you can communicate with senior stakeholders. You’ll need a keen eye for detail and organisation to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Day-to-day activity will involve receiving briefs from our internal buying team to use your skills, creating effective and commercial page designs that appeal to our mature customers, and preparing all artwork ready for print/repro. You’ll also be creating online assets such as banners, landing pages, and emails for our website www.chums.co.uk.
Key responsibilities:
1. Produce brand-appropriate concepts, artwork, graphics, and logo ideas for both print and digital output.
2. Produce designs for web banners, websites, templates, e-marketing, and social media assets.
3. Responsible for driving all layouts and artwork for catalogue through to handover of pages to repro.
4. Liaising with repro houses and printers.
5. Liaise with key internal Marketing and Buying teams to ensure all work is commercial and on brand.
6. Management of own schedules and workload, ensuring all projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
7. Report to Head of Design.
8. A keen eye for layout, colour, and typography.
9. High attention to detail.
10. Confidence to present and explain ideas to colleagues and clients.
11. Provide the Junior Designer with day-to-day support.
12. Knowledge of HTML and experience with web design would be advantageous but not essential.
Requirements:
1. At least 5 years work experience in a design role – fashion catalogue or retail sectors desirable.
2. A strong portfolio which demonstrates a broad mixture of print and digital experience.
3. Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat) and an understanding of Adobe After Effects.
4. An understanding of the creative process from initial brief to final product.
5. Experience of Art direction would be advantageous.
6. Experience of working across a range of multi-media design projects.
7. Strong communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.
8. Educated to degree level (design related).
9. Video editing would be advantageous.
10. Strong attention to detail and ability to respond to constructive feedback.
11. A passion for ideas, creativity, positive attitude, and ‘can do’ attitude.
12. The ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail.
13. Demonstrable prioritisation, time management, and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
14. Able to work across multiple projects.
15. Proactive and positive mindset.
16. Team player with a sense of humour!
