Description of the Business Line or Department
The main mission of the Risk Management Division (RISQ) is to contribute to the sustainable development of Societe Generale Group's activities and profitability by defining the Group’s risk appetite and by establishing, in its role as second line of defense, a risk management and monitoring system. RISQ combines independence from the business lines with a close collaboration with core businesses which are responsible in the first instance for the transactions they initiate.
Risk on Market Activities (RMA) oversees the following missions:
* Computing, analysing and certifying PnL & Risk metrics
* Determining the market risk framework, metrics used to monitor risks and reserves for market transactions, validating specific transactions, and analysing exposure
* Determining the counterparty risk management framework for hedge funds and clearing houses
* Designing regulatory market and counterparty RWA models, performing quantitative audits of valuation models, and approving and managing structural risk and liquidity risk models and frameworks
Summary of the key purposes of the role
* Helping to follow up the activity of trading desks in Europe, including close collaboration with teams in charge of data computation and excess follow-up
* Following market moves on a daily basis in correspondence with trading desk activities
* Contribution to management reporting with overview of risks, results and exposures
* Detection of UK specific market dynamics and key market events
* Helping to design and implement Market and ALM risk frameworks
Summary of responsibilities
* Extracting relevant information from periodic reporting to detect trends and assist with cross-asset controls
* Developing key tools to produce metrics linked to overshoot statistics, limits in place, transversal graphs and overall risk metrics deployed at UK level
* Communicating with risk factor experts on stress test shocks calibration, Stress Test changes impact on UK perimeter, ad-hoc stress testing review, key risk factor review mechanisms
* Interacting with Risk production teams to develop robust stress testing and detailed specifications to ensure risk metrics, risk methodologies and risk limits are properly reviewed and documented from a quantitative point of view
* Developing understanding of main metrics to be able to report on key, high-level synthetic summaries to be included in committee documentation
* Developing an in-depth understanding of risk-setting process, regulatory metrics and Stress Testing
Profile required
Competencies
* The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in a Finance-related subject
* Some previous work experience in a similar environment advantageous
* Good level of technical financial knowledge essential
* Good tool development skills essential
* Excellent analytical skills
* Ability to understand underlying problematic issues and suggest solutions
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to handle ad hoc requests at short notice
* Ability to take initiative
* Ability to work to strict deadlines in a busy corporate environment
