Sales Executive - Packaging
Position Overview
My client is looking to expand their sales team and has a requirement for a salesperson for the South of the UK, with potential to expand to Europe. The applicant will share the territory with the current Southern Sales Manager with a view to taking over the territory completely in the future. The successful candidate will be involved with all activities within the sales department concerning the territory. Activities will range from visiting and expanding the customer base by prospecting, lead generation and qualification, as well as being involved with quote generation, meeting sales targets and managing the sales process.
The successful candidate will be expected to take complete ownership of the sales process, from beginning to end and will be expected to have a strong engineering background or understanding. The candidate must have experience in the packaging/machinery industry and must have a proven record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in excess of £1m per annum.
The Sales Department currently consists of 3 people, covering 3 different territories: North UK, South UK, Europe; Rest of the World. This role is for the South of the UK with future responsibility of Europe. This role requires travelling.
Due to the high level of engineering understanding desirable for the role, this would be a great opportunity for a technically minded salesperson or for an engineer wanting to progress or move into a more active sales role. This role will suit a candidate with experience in the packaging or any PPMA industries.
Responsibilities include:
1. Hit/exceed annual sales targets set by the board and within the allocated territory.
2. Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships and expand the customer base.
3. Meet and partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives.
4. Effectively communicate the value proposition via phone, email and face-to-face visits/presentations.
5. Prepare quotations, sales proposals and presentations.
6. Manage the sales process from sale through to delivery.
7. Expense control.
8. Coordinating with marketing on lead generation.
9. Promoting the organisation and our products.
10. Attending exhibitions in the UK or abroad.
Position Requirements
1. Experience in a PPMA industry.
2. Proven sales experience in meeting or exceeding targets of £1 million plus.
3. Proven high closing rate and the ability to manage the sale to completion.
4. Previous experience as a sales executive, sales manager or similar sales and marketing role is ideal.
5. Ability to drive the sales process from beginning to close.
6. Natural ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services.
7. Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Strong engineering background preferable.
10. Experience with, or previous exposure to sales KPIs and strategic sales planning is ideal.
11. Business or Engineering related experience/background.
Position Remuneration
£50,000- £60,000. Remote working is available from within the sales area advertised, provided the salesperson can travel/commute to the HQ in Haywards Heath, West Sussex as and when required. Operating from 35 hours per week (flexibility will be expected in order to meet deadlines/for travel reasons). Company car, 8% company pension contribution and generous holiday entitlement, annual pay review, performance related bonus.
