In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.
Based in Cwmbran, South Wales, working as part of the Electrical Design Department. Responsible for the management of teams producing electrical installation models and detail drawings for new product and platform designs. Also responsible for the checking and approval of all electrical design work to meet company, regulatory and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities and duties:
1. Manage electrical engineering platform teams.
2. Ensure standards and performances are achieved by the design team.
3. Supervise and co-ordinate design activities.
4. Responsible for the management and control of daily attendance and holidays for your engineering team including absence management.
5. Assisting in recruitment of team members as and when required.
6. Carry out professional development reviews and ensure any KPI set for the year are achieved.
7. Manage and deliver electrical systems programmes as per agreed schedules and budgets, Responsible for the Electrical submittals.
8. Coordinate with regulatory agencies i.e., EASA, FAA, Boeing and Airbus to certify the electrical systems installed in their aircraft.
9. Responsible for checking / approving systems drawings and documents ensuring compliance to OEM's & Regulatory requirements.
10. Responsible for producing/updating electrical standard and process documentation.
11. Liaise with electrical equipment manufacturers to finalise the equipment and their installation specification of the equipment.
12. Report to senior management about the status of the programmes.
13. To communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers & OEM's.
14. Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process.
15. The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element.
Travel specificity
UK and overseas travel may be required.
Candidate skills & requirements
Ideally qualified to a minimum of a degree in an Electrical Engineering field. Alternatively, a HNC / HND or an equivalent qualification as part of an Electrical Apprenticeship - Essential
Experience using project management tools - Desirable
Proven experience supervising an Electrical Design team - Desirable
Experience using 3D CAD & AutoCAD electrical software packages or equivalent - Essential
Experience with Product Life Management (PLM) Systems -Desirable
The applicant should have an understanding of the effective application of tolerances and a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, as well as OEM installation requirements - Essential
Experienced in working with Boeing and Airbus specifications for electrical equipment installation is desirable - Desirable
A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture and test of electrical and electronic Components - Desirable
Ability to read design drawings and specifications - Essential
Experience in new model introduction - Desirable
