Specialist Tutor for SEN support.
About the Role:
Do you have a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Specialist Tutor to provide personalised educational support to SEN students within the Middlesbrough area. Your expertise will play a crucial role in helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide Tailored Tuition: Deliver individualised one-to-one or small group tutoring sessions that address the unique learning needs of SEN students, including those with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other specific learning difficulties.
2. Develop and Implement Learning Plans: Following EHCP’s to effectively support the students’ individual specific needs.
3. Support Academic and Personal Development: Help students develop essential academic skills, confidence, and self-esteem, while also supporting their social and emotional well-being.
4. Monitor and Report Progress: Regularly assess and record student progress, providing feedback to students, parents/guardians, and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
5. Promote an Inclusive Learning Environment: Create a supportive and adaptive learning environment that fosters engagement, resilience, and positive behaviour.
6. Engage with Parents/Guardians: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns or adjustments needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
7. A degree in Special Education, Education or a related field.
8. Proven experience in teaching or tutoring students with SEN.
9. Strong understanding of SEN educational strategies, interventions, and legal frameworks.
10. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and their families.
11. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification in SEN.
12. Experience working in SEN schools, units, or specialist educational settings.
13. Familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
