Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Tutor to join our further education college. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Functional Skills English qualifications to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role requires a passionate individual who can create an inclusive and supportive learning environment, fostering student engagement and progression.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver and assess high-quality English lessons tailored to the needs of SEND students. (The ability to plan learning is an advantage.)
* Develop individualised learning plans and resources to support students' English understanding and proficiency.
* Utilise a variety of teaching methods and strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
* Assess students' progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods accordingly.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and achievements.
* Collaborate with other teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.
* Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEND and English education.
* Ensure a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and equality.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
* Contribute to the development and review of the English curriculum and resources.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent with a desire to work to Level 5.
* Experience working with SEND students in an educational setting.
* Strong knowledge of Functional Skills English curriculum and assessment requirements.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Ability to inspire and motivate students with diverse needs and abilities.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
Desirable Attributes:
* Specialist SEND qualification or additional training in SEND education.
* Experience using a range of assistive technologies and adaptive teaching methods.
* Proficient in the use of educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
* Creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning.
* Experience in delivering English qualifications in a further education setting.
