What's involved with this role: Interim Planning Enforcement Officer Job Ref: Redditch & Bromsgrove RQ1383007 Pay Rate: £40.00 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 9am to 5.30pm Role Length: This opening assignment is for 4 months City: Redditch, Worcestershire The Planning Enforcement Officer will investigate alleged breaches of planning control and to provide site reports after careful investigation and evidence gathering. Key responsibilities: Undertake inspections of business and domestic premises to ensure compliance with the relevant legislative requirements. Receive, respond to and investigate to complaints relating to industrial, commercial and domestic premises and businesses, identifying unfair trading practices and breaches of a civil or criminal nature with a view to taking remedial action. Carry out enforcement activities in relation to all relevant provisions of regulatory legislation. Provide advice and education for consumers and businesses within Worcestershire on relevant regulatory legislation and associated civil law. Take appropriate action in respect of non- compliance including (when authorised) the service of formal notice and any other appropriate intervention. Where appropriate, to facilitate the resolution of disputes between traders and consumers, giving priority to the needs of vulnerable citizens, and to take action under the Enterprise Act against rogue traders. Assist in implementing the services duties, responsibilities and policies relating to Environmental Health and Consumer Protection. Qualifications: Educated to A level or equivalent (minimum). Foundation Certificate in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards. Skills & Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Experience of undertaking planning enforcement or other regulatory enforcement work in a public sector organisation. Previous experience of reading and interpreting plans and other drawings. Experience of undertaking site visits, survey work and gathering evidence to inform your recommendations. Previous experience of using information technology in a planning or related environment. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite). Full UK driving licence required for this role.
