The role
We have a vacancy for a litigation support role within the expanding Neurotrauma team in our Claimant Personal Injury department. The successful candidate will work in the Neurotrauma team assisting claims handlers in progressing cases involving serious neurological injury, particularly brain and spinal cord injury.
* Assisting claims handlers with various aspects of case preparation including collation and sorting of documentary evidence, schedules and related documents
* Organising all aspects of case meetings and conferences (and liaising with various third parties for this purpose);
* Liaising with clients, witnesses and various professionals (including Counsel, Experts and Case Managers/Therapists)
* Assisting with straightforward liability and quantum investigations (including collation of medical, therapy, employment and case management documentation, obtaining medical and other expert evidence)
* Assisting other team members and applying a proactive approach on a case by case basis to achieve the very best outcome for the client, and ensuring compliance with Court timetables
* Maintaining accurate administrative records of ongoing files in accordance with stipulated criteria
* Promoting the firm, and particularly the neurotrauma team, externally, by attending events, developing positive relationships with potential work-referrers, and supporting the business development and profile-raising strategies and activities of the neurotrauma team.
* Handling invoices from various sources, principally rehabilitation providers and dealing with payment, maintaining schedules and supporting case handlers in relation to available funds for ongoing rehabilitation.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record within the field of Claimant personal injury litigation and exhibit a high degree of flexibility; together with an ability to follow detailed instructions without close supervision. In addition, they will be highly organised, able to manage a tasks diary and to prioritise work. They will be able to cope well under pressure and work to strict deadlines.
Good communication, organisational and IT skills are essential. Attention to detail and a good work ethic are also necessary, as well as a willingness to cover a variety of tasks. Work outside of core hours may be required on occasion.
You will need to enjoy interacting with other people and have excellent client care skills.
