KPMG’s award-winning Digital Workplace team are responsible for all end user tools which provide the ability to connect, collaborate and communicate.
The Digital Labs team is a small multi skilled team that look after all of the technical aspects of the Digital Workplace portfolio which comprises of many technologies including the Microsoft stack, 3rd party collaboration SaaS tools, workplace technologies and the network.
What will you be doing?
As part of the Digital Labs team, the role of the Mac specialist will drive EUC technology to deliver an effective, secure and reliable desktop experience to end users. Working in collaboration with other teams within the business you will deliver key business projects alongside Business-as-usual activities.
What will you need to do it?
The role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for defining the Mac architecture and shaping the future of KPMG’s macOS environment. Key areas of responsibility include:
macOS Management: Expertise in versions spanning from Sierra to macOS 15+ to ensure a cohesive and scalable ecosystem.
* Security Leadership: Implementing advanced security measures such as antivirus, firewalls, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and compliance initiatives like the macOS Security Compliance Project (mSCP).
* Device Management: Managing and optimizing Jamf Cloud, Jamf Connect, and Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager for policy enforcement and configuration.
* Identity Integration: Leveraging Azure AD for seamless identity and access management.
* Lifecycle Management: Utilising Apple Business Manager for efficient device provisioning, deployment, and management.
* Infrastructure Integration: Ensuring smooth operation of certificates (SCEP/NDES/ADCS) and related technologies to maintain secure communications.
* Emerging Technologies: Driving adoption of innovative tools like Apple Intelligence and aligning them with business objectives.
In addition to these technical domains, the role includes advancing related technology investments to enhance operational excellence and business value. Plus other related technology investments as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough reviews of current processes, providing actionable recommendations for operational improvements.
* Establish and maintain technology standards, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
* Develop high-level architectural designs and functional requirements for projects and initiatives.
* Identify and socialize technology opportunities to support business objectives and enhance capabilities.
* Act as a trusted advisor to project delivery teams, ensuring solutions meet technical and operational requirements
* Champion governance and assurance frameworks, ensuring standards align with UK and global IT services objectives.
* Lead technical initiatives that enhance the organisation’s capabilities in Mac technologies, influencing project scope, approach, and successful delivery.
* Engage with the business and IT stakeholders to align technology trends with future-looking strategies and opportunities.
* Collaborate with Business Analysts to refine business requirements and translate them into actionable technical solutions.
* Drive the transition of solutions into steady-state operations, enabling seamless knowledge transfer and operational readiness.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of the Engineering and Architecture discipline by creating new processes, tools, and documentation to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Produce and maintain clear technical documentation including low level configuration or design and ensuring user documentation is correct and accurate from a technical perspective.
* Plan change to production and consider how they may affect risk, compliance or user experience.
* Build support models of a product to facilitate effective operations transition.
* Troubleshoot to resolution any escalated issues including liaising with 3rd party vendors and ensure this is done in a timely manner.
* Provide advisory role to the operations team.
* Take technical ownership of tools in the portfolio.
* Work collaboratively within Digital Workplace and EWT to ensure Mac products are effective and fit into the overall architecture.
* Being able to advise and explain to all levels on how components works, how they fit or should be used.
The Person
We are looking for a bright, self-driven and enthusiastic person with a technical background to work within a small collaborative multi skilled technical team.
* Be inquisitive to how technology works and learn quickly
* Considerable experience in owning and evolving all aspects of the Mac environment, services and hardware.
* Previous experience of influencing and driving a Mac strategy.
* Proven Experience in designing and implementing modern Mac management in line with guidelines, security standards and best practices
* Competence in using Intune for complete device management
* Be effective in managing time and 3rd parties to deliver against deadlines
* Have good communication skills
* Good working knowledge of Jamf Cloud management, policies and configuration
* Have hands on experience of supporting migration from Jamf management to Intune
* Deployment of devices on a large scale
* Managing Mac OS in a large professional services environment
* Experience in co-pilot within the M365 stack
* Have experience with endpoint privilege management
