In Falkirk we run The Studio Monday and Friday 9am - 3pm and Outreach supporting people in their homes, out in the community, volunteering in shops or the farm, social days, Bowling group, paying bills, shopping, and more.
Post: Support Worker
Service: Housing & Community Support Services (HACSS)
Base: The Action Group, The Prentice Centre, Edinburgh (or regional base as set by line manager)
Line Managed by: Team Manager
Salary Range:
Casual rate: £12 per hour
Sleepover rate (if applicable): £96 per night.
Hours: To be discussed with post holder - Full-time, Part-time and Casual hours available.
Special requirements: Driving License preferred or able to travel around Falkirk on public transport.
Main purpose:
The main purpose of this post is to provide a caring, efficient and effective 24/7 support service to people who use The Action Group’s Services. This will include assisting people to develop their skills by supervising and participating in various support activities in a way that enriches their opportunities and promotes choice.
About The Role
Specific Duties
1. Practice the TAG Key Worker system, organising support plans and case reviews as required for individual people we support with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective handovers between staff, and maintaining records, case files etc.
2. Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of the people we support at all times.
3. Actively develop meaningful and trusting relationships with the people we support.
4. Encourage independence in all daily living activities wherever possible.
5. Promote people’s hobbies, interests and activities, and encourage participation in all aspects of community life.
6. Directly assist with personal care as required.
7. Work with the people we support to maximize their ability to communicate effectively and promote self-advocacy wherever possible.
8. Advocate on behalf of the people we support when needed.
9. Work with relatives and carers of people we support.
10. Find out about the wide range of local services, amenities and organisations available.
11. Participate flexibly in the various shift work patterns required by the needs of the people we support.
12. Regularly undertake ‘sleepover’ or ‘waking night’ duties where required.
13. From time-to-time, cover short-term absences of Support Workers in other teams.
