Duties and responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: Provide an advanced MSK service. Triage, assess, diagnose, provide specialist interventions and care pathway management direction for complex patients referred to the RRU within Multi-Disciplinary Injury Assessment Clinics (MIACs) and residential rehabilitation courses. These may include diverse, persistent physical and associated psychological conditions requiring advanced clinical reasoning and decision making. Facilitate referrals. Assist the MIAC Consultant/Medical Officer with diagnostic and secondary care referrals, use and interpret diagnostic ultrasound and autonomously complete investigation requests if indicated in accordance with local requirement and training. Use the results of investigations to assist decision making within the patients care pathway. Line manage staff and support the OC. Assume line management responsibilities in accordance with Defence Medical Services (DMS) policy and local direction, including appraisal and administrative processes to set and maintain clinical direction. Manage the day-to-day running of the RRU in the absence of the Officer Commanding (OC) and Second in Command (2iC) RRU. Undertake any post-appropriate secondary duty responsibilities requested by Line Manager. Lead residential course output. Lead the residential course team to perform a high-quality rehabilitation service based on best practice, including provision of evidence-based rehabilitation and educational interventions to enhance patient outcomes. Complete clinical interventions and support staff with discharge plans, including completion of referrals and timely discharge reports.
