Gateshead Council is seeking a compassionate and experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated Children's Long Term Team. We provide high-quality, person-centered support to children with long-term needs and their families, empowering them to reach their full potential.
About the Role
As a Social Worker in our Children's Long Term Team, you will work with a caseload of children and young people with complex needs, including disabilities, chronic health conditions, and those in the care system. You will:
* Conduct assessments of children's needs and their families, identifying strengths, challenges, and goals.
* Develop and implement individualised care plans, ensuring tailored support across education, health, social care, and family well-being.
* Work closely with families, providing guidance, support, and advocacy.
* Collaborate with professionals, including health professionals, educators, and other agencies.
* Ensure the child's voice is heard and their rights are protected.
* Maintain accurate records, adhering to legislation and policies.
Who we're looking for
We seek a highly motivated and compassionate Social Worker with a strong understanding of children's needs and their families.
You will have:
* A recognised social work qualification.
* A valid Social Work England registration.
* Significant experience working with children with complex needs and their families.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A deep understanding of legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
* A genuine commitment to child-centered practice.
