The Centre for Oral, Clinical and Translational Sciences (COCTS) brings together discovery and clinical scientists combining efforts aimed at improving oral and dental health through research and innovation leading to translation. The Centre is in an exciting phase of renewal with significant investment into state-of-the-art interdisciplinary science laboratories and support of translational and clinical research. Members of the centre have international reputations in mineralised tissue research, biomaterials, tissue engineering, device and diagnostic technology development, computer science and AI, and clinical research. Strong educational support is provided to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and we seek to appoint an academic that will strengthen and diversify the capacity of the centre in both research and education.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching within the discipline of Prosthodontics to postgraduate and undergraduate students of Kings College London (KCL) and trainees in specialist training programmes. The appointee will engage in the development of our teaching programmes within Prosthodontics, provide or supervise students to achieve outstanding patient care, and undertake administrative, managerial, and other duties as are reasonably to be expected of a member of clinical academic staff within the department as agreed with Divisional/Clinical Lead.
This is a part-time post (0.5 FTE) aimed at a clinician with significant experience in supervision of post-graduate students in the clinical arena.
The post will be offered with an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Full GDC registration with current license to practice and on the Specialist Register for Prosthodontics.
2. Speciality training in Prosthodontics or Restorative Dentistry
3. Experience of clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
4. Significant experience in postgraduate clinical supervision in prosthodontic education
5. The ability to take individual responsibility for planning and undertaking own work, according to clinical and scientific deadlines.
6. Working as part of a multidisciplinary research team, relying on and supporting others effectively
7. Good verbal and written communication skills
Desirable criteria
1. A recognized teaching qualification or an intention to achieve
2. Clinical practice experience in specialist prosthodontics in different care provision settings
3. Experience of undergraduate dental education including direct clinical supervision.
4. Track record of nationally and internationally recognized achievements in prosthodontics education or research.
5. Leadership experience in dental educational programmes
