Group Head of Health, Safety and Environment and Wellbeing

We are looking for a Group Head of Health, Safety, and Environment to lead the strategic vision and governance of our global Health Safety Environment and Wellbeing (HSEW) function. This role offers a senior leadership opportunity to be at the forefront of the evolution and optimisation of our HSEW function. As a key figure within our corporate team, you will be instrumental in building capability and empowering our business.
In this key role, you will develop and implement the group-wide HSEW strategy, ensuring it aligns with our overall business goals. Join us during this exciting period as we concentrate on setting priorities, aligning our operating model to streamline workflows, enhancing efficiencies within our corporate team, and embarking on substantial digital transformation with two enterprise-wide system implementations currently under way.
As a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Group (ELG) and Board, you will provide strategic industry insights, risk assessments, and data-driven recommendations to support decision-making and establish strategies. You will manage enterprise-wide risk, proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating core risks. Additionally, you will optimize HSEW budgets, balancing financial responsibility with impactful safety and wellbeing initiatives to enhance business resilience, prosperity and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the evolution and execution of the group-wide Health & Safety strategy, ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives and industry best practices.
* Providing high-level strategic insights on key H&S data, translating complex information into actionable recommendations for the ELG to enhance decision-making.
* Analyzing trends and emerging risks, delivering expert guidance on potential business impacts and proactive mitigation strategies.
* Overseeing H&S financial strategy, ensuring budget allocations maximize impact and deliver a strong return on investment (ROI) for safety initiatives.
* Driving enterprise-wide risk management, ensuring a proactive approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating core risks while quantifying financial and operational implications.
* Advising on regulatory and legislative changes, assessing their potential business impact, and guiding the ELG and Board on strategic compliance and risk management responses.
* Providing executive leadership and governance, overseeing through regular strategic reviews and participating in annual management reviews to set direction and priorities.
* Ensuring governance and compliance through documentation verification and delivering strategic insights directly to the CEO, ELG, and Board, influencing high-level decision-making.

You are a proven leader in Health, Safety, and Environment with passion for improving wellbeing and a strong track record of shaping and executing enterprise-wide strategies at a senior level. With extensive experience in risk management, governance, and compliance, you bring a strategic mindset and the ability to translate complex HSEW data into meaningful insights that influence executive decision-making.
Your ability to engage and advise senior stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Group and Board, sets you apart. You are commercially astute, with a deep understanding of HSE financial management, ensuring that investments in safety initiatives deliver both operational impact and a strong return on investment.
You’re passionate about driving cultural change and embedding a proactive, risk-focused HSE approach across a global organization. You are well-versed in emerging regulatory and legislative changes, ensuring the business remains ahead of compliance requirements.
