Job Title: Engineer - Power & Propulsion

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on qualifications and experience
What you'll be doing:
1. Carry out specialist technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
2. Prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained
3. Support the Principal engineer as the specialist point of contact with customers and/ or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives
4. Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development
5. Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
6. Strong technical knowledge of Power and Propulsion systems and equipment, and how they integrate with auxiliary and ancillary systems
7. Experience in system and subsystem integration
8. Experience of deriving system and sub system requirements from high level requirements and standards
Desirable:
9. Specific knowledge of shaft line equipment, steering gear and active stabilisers
10. Experience within a highly regulated industry
11. Technical subcontractor management experience
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Power & Propulsion team:
Join us on the Canadian River Class Destroyer programme where you will assist with the development of Power and Propulsion systems, providing crucial design input to the subcontractor and ensuring that the architecture and detailed design are fit for purpose. You'll ensure the technical viability and safe operation of specific auxiliary systems for which you'll be responsible. There are ample opportunities for progression, including gaining experience across various stages of the lifecycle. You'll receive strong support towards learning and development and have the chance to work on a large-scale international programme and gain international exposure.
