The job itself
A vacancy has arisen for an Engineer within the Structures Team, which forms part of the Civil Engineering Services section, based at County Hall, Beverley. You will be part of an engineering team which manages the maintenance, inspection, assessment and replacement of the Councils highway structures which include listed masonry arches, complex mechanical moving bridges, retaining walls, culverts and footbridges.
We seek a motivated person with a good knowledge of engineering, specifically structures related. You will have a good knowledge of bridge inspection and assessment, designing and delivering maintenance schemes, and a good understanding of the relevant design codes and codes of practice. Experience of Project Management practices and principles, and a knowledge of New Engineering Contract Procedures would be beneficial.
You should hold a relevant engineering related qualification and have relevant post qualification civil engineering experience. An ability to carry out extensive liaison, consultation and communication with the public and a wide range of stakeholders is also essential.
