The Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP) is a not-for-profit research and development (R&D) organization accelerating the development of new and improved treatments for drug-resistant infections. GARDP works with partners to ensure sustainable access to treatments, promoting responsible use and affordability to all in need.
Initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), GARDP is essential to delivering on the Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance.
GARDP’s mission is to bring together the public and private sectors to develop new treatments for bacterial infections. We ensure responsible and sustainable access, addressing the public health impact of antibiotic resistance.
Overall Purpose
GARDP is looking for a R&D Portfolio Senior Analyst to join the R&D Portfolio and Project Management team. Working closely with the Head of R&D Portfolio and Operations Strategy, the incumbent will be responsible for delivering operational and analytical aspects of GARDP R&D and Global Access project portfolio management activities to enable effective portfolio monitoring and decision-making. This includes activities involved with planning and monitoring, delivery of consistent and accurate portfolio reporting, providing robust portfolio analyses, supporting project and portfolio management including best practices implementation, process development, and continuous improvement.

Integrated R&D and Global Access project portfolio monitoring, analysis, and reporting
1. Contribute to the continuous improvement and maintenance of the R&D project and portfolio management framework. Conduct adaptation and deployment of this framework to Global Access.
2. Contribute to the definition and implementation of the R&D Portfolio Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Performance Measurement (PMS) frameworks. Assist in adapting those for the Global Access specificities.
3. Gather, compile, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to track portfolio progress and achievements, assess performance against established key metrics and indicators, and evaluate impact, risks, and opportunities. Contribute to overall GARDP metrics and reporting requirements.
4. Develop and maintain integrated R&D and Global Access project portfolio reports and dashboards to communicate portfolio status, metrics, and key insights to internal and external audiences.
5. Leverage evaluations and analyses to support decision making, strategic planning, and prioritization, and to identify areas for processes and operational improvement.
R&D strategic and operational planning
1. Support the development of R&D portfolio and departmental forecasting and planning tools and contribute to their maintenance and continuous improvement, with an initial emphasis on financial and resource forecasts.
2. Facilitate the implementation, monitoring, and updating of the R&D operational plans at both functional and departmental levels, providing cross-functional support within R&D.
3. Collaborate with other departments to integrate and streamline R&D operations and develop guidance and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and performance.
Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) best practices implementation
1. Contribute to the development of processes, systems, and tools supporting R&D and Global Access project and portfolio management, including further development of the project management (PM) toolbox and handbook.
2. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop new or refine PPM guidelines and policies. Ensure proper dissemination of these guidelines and provide training to team members as needed.
3. Drive continuous improvement in R&D and Global Access project management approaches, seeking ways to work more efficiently with flexibility, and manage changes to ensure adoption of best practices.
R&D Project Management
1. Manage small scope/scale internal R&D initiatives or projects as assigned.
2. Manage designated workstreams within larger R&D projects/programmes or at departmental level, providing support to project teams as required.

Education and Experience
* BSc, MS, or equivalent in life science discipline
* 6 years previous experience in project or portfolio management in an R&D setting (including industry, global health, or management consultancy)
* Understanding of the health and clinical/medical research sector environment and culture
* Familiarity with best practice project management methodologies and tools, initial hands-on experience is a plus
* Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data and information from various sources

* Fluency in English
