The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. This role will be: -

We are keen to recruit GPs who can provide additional skills and want to develop services within the practice.

Clinical responsibilities:
1. In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
2. Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
3. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
4. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
5. In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
6. Providing counselling and health education
7. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate using the RMS system
8. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
9. Collecting data for audit purposes and reflecting on practice by completing SEAs and Audit cycles
10. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
11. Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary and within budget
12. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
13. Take part in the daily on call rota.
14. Take part in the in-house educational program including Time Ins, clinical meetings, meeting revalidation criteria and mandatory training
15. Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
16. An extension to the terms and conditions are held in a Staff Handbook available on request.
17. The successful applicant will need to have personal cover with a professional defence organisation and will be required to prove evidence of insurance cover and GMC membership on an annual basis to the Manager. Presently Medical Indemnity is paid by the Practice.
