Pyramid8 Recruitment are recruiting for a full-time permanent Group Transport Planner for our client based in Heckmondwike.
As Group Transport Planner, you will be responsible for routing and coordinating loads and drivers 24/5 and occasional Saturdays to the highest of industry standards and in the most efficient and safest of ways. This key role forms a vital part of our operational team and will be visible, resilient, driven, and a high performer.
The successful candidate will have a track record of transport planning and working with related Transport Management Systems (TMS) whilst ensuring absolute compliance with all relevant transport laws and regulations. They will have experience in planning flatbed rigids and trailers, Moffett and Hiab related work.
Excellent time management skills are essential to prioritise tasks and manage your time effectively, ensuring that our driver workforce is not idling or adding extra miles unnecessarily. You should be well versed in driver’s hours and the working time directive, with strong organisational skills to manage multiple routes, drivers, and jobs effectively. Excellent people resource planning is crucial to avoid calendar conflicts and unnecessary use of agency drivers. A self-starter is preferred.
Qualifications and Experience
* Route planning and driver’s records: At least three years’ experience in transport route planning is essential, with a good understanding of geography across the UK, drivers’ hours, and records.
* Commercial: Experience in preparing quotations and understanding costs involved in performing a contract, including understanding sub-contracting of business and working to the company’s framework.
* Transport logistics and technical regulations: A good knowledge of processes and procedures, including fleet utilisation, fleet compliance, and safety regulations.
* IT proficiency: Competent IT skills and knowledge of Transport Management Systems such as Vigo, TachoMaster, FleetCheck, Matrix Telematics, and PDAs.
* Membership: Membership of an appropriate professional body such as the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or having worked for a member of the Road Haulage Association would be advantageous.
* FORS: Experience and knowledge of the Fleet Operating Recognition Scheme, ideally working for a FORS Silver or Gold Operator.
