This world-wide leading technology company with operations in countries including the United Kingdom, Germany and several other European countries. Our client is seeking a Head of Compliance, Europe to lead corporate compliance program in coordination with other group companies within Europe.
The position will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and implementing the corporate compliance program, conducting corporate investigations, managing third party due diligence, and collaborating with business leaders to reinforce a culture of ethics, integrity and compliance, primarily for group companies in Europe, but is also expected to contribute globally. The main areas of compliance coverage are anti-bribery/corruption, antitrust and export controls. The role will report to the Head of International Compliance or its then equivalent and will collaborate with compliance professionals in other regions as well as with other cross-functional stakeholders to advise company leadership on compliance risk management.
Responsibilities include the followings primarily for group companies in Europe, but also globally:
* Sharpen compliance strategy and strengthen a pro-active compliance culture including defining and mitigating compliance risks,
* Enhance and implement compliance policies, procedures, programs, and training,
* Strengthen third party management systems related to supply chain vendors and service partners’ pre-/post-engagement including enhancing due diligence and monitoring procedures,
* Manage and respond to all issues raised through compliance reporting systems,
* Manage and conduct compliance investigations in collaboration with other corporate functions, outside counsel, and other service providers as needed,
* Advise the company’s business leaders on effective risk management strategies to support risk mitigation activities across the organization and pro-active compliance program improvements,
* Serve as a subject matter expert to advise the business leaders on compliance implications for existing and new services, and the potential impacts of proposed changes to applicable law and regulations,
* Maintain, enhance and as needed create compliance and ethics programs for employees and business partners ensuring that program training reflects the latest developments in law, ethical standards, and best practices,
* Support any engagement with government, industry, and peer groups on compliance issues
Requirements:
* Ideally qualified lawyer with compliance experience. Ideally seven plus years experience in litigation or other investigative roles with a law firm or in-house, ideally in a TMT environment
* Experience in compliance related work and or data protection is preferred but not essential Such experience could include conducting internal compliance investigations of varying complexity with teams comprised of internal or external audit, accounting, IT, CISO, and legal functions and other subject matter experts,
* Familiarity with technology sector
* Expertise in at least two of the company’s four compliance areas of focus; familiarity with the UK Bribery Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and relevant case law,
* Experience advising and influencing executive/senior management leaders in a collaborative manner,
* Demonstrated ability to be pro-active and take a practical risk-based approach to problems,
* Demonstrated experience in influencing enterprise-wide change,
